I see me

I see me 29/5/2023 All I wanted was to become big and tall When I was naïve and small Never knew how the future would unfold Rushing towards uncertainty like it was gold   Fast forward to the so called now I cannot figure out how Time flew so fast It is hard to remember how my Childhood passed   Contemplating the bygone days I realize that it is everyone’s base And when I look back in time I imagine my past, in the form of a mime   And then I met you out of blue You may not have any clue But every time we meet You give me a pleasant nostalgic treat   My yesteryear is but a murky history And my tomorrow is but an unsolved mystery But you give me my past And a glimmer of hope without being asked.   You give me immense joy A journey of a young boy I enjoy Because every time I see you I see myself.

Jampa Lhakhag

Jampa Lhakhag Around 1400 years ago, there was a giant demoness residing across the Himalayas in deep slumber. A Dharma king foresaw the existence of the demoness as a threat to the Buddha Dharma. So, in order to subdue the demoness, the King built 108 temples on various parts of her body to seal her fate. The task was achieved in a single day. And the extraordinary being to achieve the herculean task miraculously was none other than the 33 rd King of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century. Among the 108 temples built in a day by the Dharma King, two were built in Bhutan. The two temples are Jampa Lhakhang in Bumthang built on the left knee of the demoness and Kyichu Lhakhang in Paro built on the left foot of the demoness. So it can be said with certainty that the two Lhankhangs are the oldest Lhakhangs in Bhutan. The main statue inside the Jampa Lhakhang is Jowo Jampa who is known to be the future Buddha. Picture cou...

My Independence Day (23rd December, 2010)

23 rd December was the day She wished me an independence day Don’t know why But somehow it brings tears to my eye Don’t know what was wrong with me Because I don’t understand you see   I was an innocent bird that she caged For three years until the bond aged She loved me but won’t let me sing For I was her hearts king And she thinks other birds are trying to make a link   I was a prisoner she captured And she herself was the captor She loves me but wont let me out For I am the hero she sought Without me locked, she is never pleased For others are trying to seize   But I care no more Although it gives my heart sore Now I am on my own For she says her passion to love has gone   Anyway, she may be right To select another guide Throw me out and say Happy Independence Day But I am not wrong For my passion to love was strong.

Let the silence speak for me (9th September, 2014)

The place where the flower blooms, Bees also roam The time when the buds unfold, Bees also start to prepare, To approach the beautiful flower.   Many flowers can attract a single bee And a single bee can be interested in many flowers. But when a bee selects only one flower among many That is when the soul gets struck in a hook.   It all begins with the very first sight of your face It all begins with your smile, It all begins with your grace and simplicity, It all begins with the switch of an innocent’s heart on And it always begins with a crush.   Everything is fine When no one sees or hear about it But nothing seems right When everyone uncovers your feelings.   Facing a crowd is hard for me My head bows down, But facing you is even harder When you look me in eyes I can do nothing and only blush.   Speaking in the public requires courage Which can be induced by confidence But nothing seems to in...

Taking advantage of the Bhutanese signature (30/9/2021)

Recently, a case of fake donation drive surfaced in the national television and newspaper. According to the investigation, the post which initially appeared on facebook regarding a donation drive for kidney transplantation was found to be fake. The author of the post shared a picture of a young girl, stated that the girl needs to undergo kidney plantation in India and requested the general public in Bhutan to assist them financially through donations for the treatment of the patient. The post was shared by many people without second thought and by the time the police found the story to be phony, the account had already managed to collect few hundred thousand. This is not the first time such incident has taken place in Bhutan and it would not be the last of incident. Such incident will continue to prevail in Bhutan unless publics are made aware about how to verify such information posted on social media. What does this incident indicate? The spirit of volunteerism has existed in...

Thief of the Thief (16th October, 2010)

Lost a Pen, Lost a Book And lost all my belongings But that is alright, no worries   Saw a thing, Touched the thing And felt the thing Then I lost the precious of all things   Ate the chicken curry, Ate the pork curry And ate the best of all But where did the taste go?   Drank the milk, Drank the juice And drank the best of all But nothing could quench my thirst   Slept on the cozy bed, Tried the floor And slept on what not things But got no sleep   Read a book, Played a game And listened to music But still no peace to be found in heart.   I wondered and wandered I searched and searched And I thought and thought And alas, caught the thief   It is tricky, It is smart, It is wise And it is dangerous But it is none other than “she” The father of all thieves.

Atmosphere full of Emotion (8th January, 2010)

Life has not always been the same As the unexpected moment came My learning became very dull On sighting a stupendous girl   Like rose, her smile shone brightly Revealing her charming beauty mightily And she stole an innocent’s heart Creating chaos inside other body part   But as the bees negotiating for nectar There are others writing letter So, I bet mine should be sent at last To clear a little space in her heart, first   Everybody is competing in the game To get love and name But I try to be a silent killer By building friendship - a strong pillar   With time, I feel sad and a shocked Learning that my neighbor had her name locked Keeping a secret to him, I do my part Ending the painful quest of my heart   Some says love happens once But I would like to believe that one goes, thousands bounce To set the innocents heart in motion And remake atmosphere full of emotion.

Guilt July 18, 2014

We come across numerous people in different stages of our life. As life goes on, we keep on forgetting many names even though we find the face familiar. But there are few faces and names which you do not forget easily. Well, I do not think I will ever forget the names of two individuals whom I am going to mention in my story. No, they were not my best friends and we do not have the best of memories together. Nevertheless, they triggered a dialogue within me without having spoken a single word to me. I had five friends in my group by the name Wangchu, Norbu, Dorji, Yeshi and Dhendup. Yeshi was the mike captain in our school and it was his responsibility to set the mike every morning during assembly and dissemble the equipment after the assembly. For that matter, he got the privilege over a store room where all the sound equipment were kept. Since the store room key was in Yeshis hand, we used to benefit a lot being his friends. Often we would bunk from our hostel to sleep in the store...

Betrayed love (5th February, 2009)

I was 13 when I was in eighth standard learning Amidst the process came a turning Seeing a beautiful girl at my first sight An unknown corner of my heart turned bright   (........) was her name And her beauty was her fame Simplicity was her nature Which made her look mature   When the cupid released its arrow The distance between us began to narrow I became hers and she became mine And our love story was going fine   Our love was extremely strong And it did last long Promises were made never to give up On each other and never to be fed up   But as the time passed Her love for me did not last And I was betrayed For she found another mate   Alas, her mate got the fame As well as won the game A broken soul stared at them under the blue sky Asking why, why and why?

When do we truly live? (30th March, 2013)

Living, living, living Many folks goes on living Yet, not many truly live Some live only physically, Some live a lost life And some live dying every moment.   If you can not only sun yourself, But also feel the warmth of the sun If you can not only stroll down for the breeze But also feel freshness of the air If you can not only play in rain But feel the joy of receiving every rain drops Then you are truly living.   If you can not only master your life But also your anger, If you can not only throw the worn out things But also your greed If you can not only conquer your problem but also your fear Then you are truly living.   If you can not only deal with people But also understand through your dealings If you can not only see the sufferer But also bow down to help If you can not only think But also make deeds out of your thoughts Then you are truly living   If you can not only live But also experien...

Dzongkha Typing Tutor for Bhutanese September 27, 2021

A fast typing speed for sure saves a lot of time when it comes to working on an assignment which requires typing. But how many of us have worked on improving our typing speed? Have you ever asked yourself the following questions? “How fast can I type in English?” “Do I know how to type in Dzongkha?” “How fast can I type in Dzongkha?” I got my laptop in the year 2015 and the first thing which I wanted to do in my laptop was to learn to type fast. I had seen my brother type fast in his laptop without looking at the keyboard. Instead he looked at me, spoke to me and typed simultaneously in a show off. But I found the ability to do that so cool. I wanted myself to be able to do that. So when I asked Google about the techniques to increase my typing speed, several typing tutors appeared on my laptop screen. I needed only one. I downloaded one of the typing tutors and started my typing lessons. Initially, I found it uncomfortable to keep my left index finger at “F” and right in...

When Dzongkha lopon lost his cool May 12, 2013

One day, Subatri and Bunu from my class went to Damphu to participate in the annual regional sports meet. While returning to school after the big event, it occurred to them that they should take something for their classmates from Damphu. So they bought cucumbers for the entire class - 11 science students. They decided that the next day after their arrival in school would be the perfect timing for cucumber party. Most of the students in the class did not have the slightest idea about their plan. On that particular day, the first class started as usual and the Teacher left as soon as the bell rang. Second period was Dzongkha and all of us were waiting for the Lopon. Fifteen minutes past the second period, our Dzongkha Lopon still did not show up. By then, the class started to buzz with myriad conversations. At that point, Subatri and Bunu decided that it was the moment we all needed to seize because recess was too short. They stood up from their chairs, collected two buckets placed behi...
